Live to work, not work to live:
Life isn’t all about work, yes our job or our business pays the bills and for many of us is something we enjoy doing (it certainly should be or you’re in the wrong job!), but there is more to life than working.
You’ll most likely find me in the office during work hours, working away on client’s websites, proving tech support and connecting with new potential customers. For me, I also dedicate some of my time to building upon my own knowledge, I like to be constantly learning new things and developing my own skills so that I am able to provide my customers with quality, current and professional support when it comes to their website design or tech questions.
However, out of the office, you’ll most likely find me socialising with friends and family in our local area. Living in Chichester, we are surrounded by dozens of independent coffee shops, fantastic restaurants and of course we have our go-to places for drinks of an evening.
It's not all about the socialising...
Aside from socialising, Archie our Golden Doodle is a big part of the family and we’ll often take him out on walks in the surrounding countryside. We’re lucky to have Kingley Vale, The Witterings and The South Downs on our doorstep which all make for stunning dog walks. Sometimes nothing can beat getting out of the office and into the fresh air.
I am also mum to two children; a son who is 21 and a daughter who is 19. My son has only just returned from Australia, surprising me as he turned up on my doorstep after months away, which was lovely. It goes without saying that being a mum and business owner, I like to make the most of the time I have with my children when I’m not working, whether they think it’s cool to be seen with mum or not!
Holly, who works on the business with me says that when she isn’t working on ShortTech projects, she is either working on her own business; In The Country Magazine or spending time with her dog Bella or her horse Simba, which she keeps in a small and picturesque little village just outside of Chichester.
Socialising and having fun outside of work is important to us here at ShortTech and it is vital to ensuring you achieve that all important work-life balance.
What do you do when you’re not working?
