NOTE: This business has since been taken over by Coco’s Hair and Beauty – who have also become a ShortTech client!
Hello hello, as a web designer, I work with a variety of different businesses to design, build or re-work their websites. One of my favourite builds to date has to be the Evolve website.
One of my faves...
I loved every minute of working on this website from start to finish. Evolve Hair Salon was actually referred to me from someone I met through one of my local networking clubs; The Last Friday Club.
The owner of the business, a hair salon in Clanfield, Waterlooville was looking to revamp her existing site which had become outdated as it was a few years old. It had been professionally built by a design company but a few years down the line, but started to not respond and aspects of the website just weren’t working as they had done such as the Google Map plug-in wasn’t showing the salon’s location.
The client is always kept in the loop.
It is important, I believe, for a client and a website designer to be in touch during and after the build to ensure that any problems are quickly rectified and this is why I offer affordable, tiered monthly care packages to enable me take regular preventative measures and backups and to be on hand quickly if something does go wrong.
So, we embarked on our design and decided to build the new website from the ground up using WordPress – you can read my recent blog here, on why I opt for WordPress – the owner of Evolve expressed the desire for an emphasis to be on the signature purple colour you can see from the image with a simple, stylish and timeless design feel throughout the website. We added a second accent colour of gold as well.
What makes the site stand out?
We used a combination of high quality stock images which reflect the high quality of services that the salon offers along with a number of photographs of the salon itself and the team you’ll meet should you visit, giving it a genuine and authentic vibe.
Whilst the website itself is quite simplistic in it’s design, we did introduce a number of interactive features improving the site’s functionality such as their competitive and extensive price list and their online booking tool which integrates with SaloniQ – an online appointment booking systems for hair and beauty business in the UK. We also configured an online form for clients to request a discount code.
How did we work together to bring the design to life?
Following the initial referral, we met here at ShortTech HQ twice to go through various design aspects in person and then we had numerous conversations over the phone during the process which enabled us to review the build as we went and ensure both parties were happy.
The approximate price for Evolve’s website build was £800 which is based on my guideline price of £100 per page plus extra for specific functionality / features. This price is for client committing to one of my website care plans.
